We operate a mid-size Shopify store selling home goods with roughly 1,200 orders per month. Around 60% of our support tickets are simple queries about order status, delivery estimates, and our returns policy. We want to automate these with a chatbot so our two-person support team can focus on complex issues.
The chatbot should integrate with Shopify to look up live order status by email or order number, handle the most common FAQ topics using a knowledge base we will provide, and guide customers through the returns process step by step. If a query falls outside its scope, it should collect the customer message and details and create a ticket in our helpdesk (Gorgias).
We are open to the solution stack but would prefer something that does not require us to maintain complex infrastructure. Tools like Tidio AI, Intercom Fin, or a custom GPT-4 integration are all acceptable. Budget for the platform tool itself is separate from this project, we are paying for the build and configuration.
The bot should be live-tested with at least 20 common scenarios before handover, and we need documentation of how to update the FAQ knowledge base ourselves after delivery.
Requirements
- Experience building Shopify-integrated chatbots
- Ability to connect to a third-party helpdesk (Gorgias) for escalation
- Live testing against a realistic set of customer queries
- Documentation for ongoing knowledge base management
- Support for at least English, with French being a bonus
